A class action lawsuit has been filed against American Business Financial Services in regards to the company's deed in lieu of foreclosure practice. The suit alleges predatory lending by the home equity lender, and claims that the company has violated the Pennsylvania Fair Credit Extension Uniformity Act and the Pennsylvania Unfair Trade Practices and Consumer Protection Law. The suit further alleges that ABFS charges unreasonable fees and excessive amounts for "forced-placed" hazard insurance.
