Class action status has been granted to a lawsuit filed in September 2000 against Albertsons Inc. on behalf of as many as 118,000 former employees. The suit claims that the company violated California law by failing to pay departing workers promptly. The suit also covers former employees of the chains that Albertsons acquired when it purchased American Stores Co. in 1999, including Lucky Stores Inc. and Sav-on drugstores.
Case Update:
Trial setting conference is June 2006. Class has been certified. Expect trial in early 2007.
