Bank of America, Wells Fargo

Class action status is being sought for lawsuits filed against Bank of America Corp. and Wells Fargo & Co. on behalf of people who were charged a $5 fee for cashing payroll checks if they did not have an account at the bank. The suits were filed by two California employers who claim that this fee exposes them to potential criminal and civil penalties by violating a 1911 state labor law that prohibits employers from deducting undisclosed fees from paychecks.

I was first asked to join Bank of America free checking and as soon as I said that I was not interested the teller told me that then I have to pay a $ 5 dollars fee for cashing the check. I refused to pay the fee and she refused to cash the check.
