Mercer County, NJ

A class action lawsuit was filed in Superior Court alleging the county and its clerk charge excessive fees for photocopies. The lawsuit claims Mercer County charges 50 cents per copy while profitable companies such as Kinko's only charge 10 cents per copy. The lawsuit was filed by a title searcher and notes the public must utilize the clerk's office for information relating to property and therefore, has a vested interest in paying the proper amount for photocopies. The class claims Mercer County is violating the New Jersey Open Public Records Act by charging more than the actual cost for photocopies.
