Great Expectations

A class action lawsuit against Great Expectations claims the dating service deprived customers of the right to cancel their contracts. According to the Dating Service Contract Act passed by state legislature, customers are allowed 72 hours to cancel their contracts. The lawsuit claims that the 1989 Act entitles every Great Expectations customer to cancel their contracts and seek restitution.

Great Expectations' standard membership contract runs three years and costs nearly $4,500, plus a monthly service charge. Some members pay an additional $1,500 to place a picture on Great Expectations' Web site.

Spent over $3000 for this sh*t service. Absolute horrible experience. Every single employee of Great Expectations should burn in hell.

This dating service promises many things and hundreds of eligible dates for approximately $5,000. I received not one date, no help from the service representatives, could not cancel my contract at any point, and basically was left to find everything on my own. For my money, I received several photos. Now it appears the service is no longer in the Atlanta area.

They assured me I would have dates weekly and would "find someone to marry within 2 years". it's been almost a year and it ended up simply being a waste of about $4,000.

Received multiple phone solicitations from GE in early 2007. Reluctantly attended high-pressure sales meeting...was not allowed to leave until contract signed; could not view potential matches until signed contratct. NOTHING of what was promised was delivered after signing. Complaints to company were shunned with the response "you signed a contract" NOT 'how can we assist you better?".

I am making monthly payments on my Great Expectations account. I have not used the account much as I have never met anyone from their program in the time I have had an account with them. Unlike other dating sites programs, if you are not satified with the service you can discontinue the service and not have to continue to pay for the service that you aren't using. That is not the case with Great Expectations. So I still have to pay for this product even though I'm not using and don't want it anymore. It also would appear that some of the accounts are faulty, as in they are not active accounts. I was informed of this by the one person that I talked on the phone with through Great Expectations.

Before I signed, membership was represented as mostly college educated professionals who were too busy to date...in reality most of the men were small business owners or blue collar. Few professionals online were, I believe, phoney profiles (usually "taking a break and not available). I know that men were given cheaper rates than women. Service was terrible. Contract stated that you did not have normal cancellation period. Totally fraudulent. I was had.....

When I was interviewing with the lovely young woman who represented Great Expectations, I was shown a great many profiles of eligible women in the age group I was interested in. After signing a very costly membership contract I was photographed, ( I am a professional photographer) and then put on their service. When I began to examine the women they had on line, there were none of the quality shown me at the interview. When I asked to be dropped from the service and have my money returned, they simply said that I should continue searching and perhaps, I'd find someone. It never improved and I simply opted out. They are con-people. I would discourage anyone from dealing with them. It was a very expensive ripp-off.

To me, Great Expectations is a legal scam! After spending over $3,000, I have yet to hear from anyone interested in over a year. I am an attractive, successful businesswoman, and was told I'd be hearing from many potential mates. I had been recently widowed when I joined, and I feel they played on my vulnerability at the time. None of the promises they made were ever to come true.

Paid $5,150 to use this dating service. They would not let me see their website and showed me pictures of women who I later found out were not even available. After I signed up and checked out the website, I felt that I was lied to and the service was not what was explained. I immediately, within 3 days, asked for a refund and they refused. I have not used the service in the past 6 months. Visa credited my account, but Great Expectations simply charged it again. They used pressure tactics to convince me to sign up and played on the holiday season. I feel that I have been robbed and I would like my money back.
