Michigan State Prison

A class action lawsuit has been filed against the prison on behalf of hundreds of prisoners. The suit claims plaintiffs are being wrongfully denied real consideration of early release or parole. In the 1970's and 80's serving a life sentence for anything other than first degree murder meant 10 to 25 years, but in 1992 the definition of a life sentence changed. Approximately 800 prisoners who were charged with second degree murder are involved in the lawsuit.
