Quest Diagnostics

A class action lawsuit has been filed in West Palm Beach federal court against the nation's largest diagnostic laboratory for allegedly balance billing patients. Balance-billing is an illegal process where health care providers charge patients for the difference between the rate it negotiated with a managed care provider and the amount it normally would charge.

I have been dealing with getting expensive balnces through the mail for laboratory testing, which i have done once so far. I sent them a check, which they said was for October, and now i got one for november, both 215 and for laboratory testing. But i have only got testing once so far. Do not understand.

For the past year, I have been paying a bill for Quest due to lab fees. I have paid the bills monthly with the minimum that they asked for, which is 20 percent. I thought that all was going well, then I received a bill in from a collection agency for the remaining balance of $229.00

When I asked the agency why they sent me a bill, they replied back that my payment arrangements were taking too long to pay off.

Does anybody know who I can complain to in the state of Pennsylvania?
Thanks.

Quest is engaging in illegal balance billing. I have called, complained online and faxed complaints over 7 times regarding a bloodwork bill that Quest continues not to reflect my insurance company, Aetna's negotiated rate, that was sent to Quest via an EOB. Quest keeps blaming Aetna stating that they are not receiving the EOB but that's a lie because the EOB was sent with Aetna's payment of their portion to Quest. It has also been faxed to Quest several times since.

I have been fighting with Quest Diagnostic regarding a bill my insurance company kept calling them about. I was only suppose to be charged $40 and they keep sending me letters and I was told by my insurance company not to pay it until I got the bill for $40. So now they have referred me to a collection company and I have been getting phone calls regarding this.

My credit is at stake becasue they are threatening to send my account to a collection agency even though I do not owe them any money. I was not supposed to be charged for the lab test. My doctor's office contracts with Quest. I pay my doctor's office for the test. I also received a bill from Quest for the same tests. My doctor's office and I have called repeatedly to tell them that they are to bill the doctor's office instead of me. They tell us on the phone each time that the problem is taken care of, but the next month I receive a bill again. We (the dr office staff and I) call AGAIN and we get the same story AGAIN...that it is being taken care of and that I won't receive any more bills. The last time I called Quest, they told me that they did not have any record of the doctor's office calling and telling them to bill them instead of me.
I have suffered many lost hours of work time, phone time and bills, and extraordinary stress dealing with this issue. I am very fearful that my good credit will be permanently damaged by Quest's actions.
