Berkeley County School District and Goose Creek Police Department



On the morning of November 5, 2003 Goose Creek police burst into Stratford High School and began waving their guns and shouting at hundreds of students who filled the hallways. Officers ordered students to the floor while a barking dog sniffed for weapons and drugs; none were found. A class action was filed against the school district and the police department of behalf of students who were searched. Under a proposed settlement, the defendants have agreed to pay a $1.6 million class action settlement for psychological and medical damages. (Apr-04-06) [POST AND COURIER]
