ASUS Reaches $2.2M Settlement in Defective Tablet Class Action lawsuit

- by

San Francisco, CA: Preliminary approval of a $2.2 million settlement has been granted in the defective products class action pending against tablet manufacturer ASUS Computer International.

If approved, the settlement could provide $17 to each US resident who purchased an ASUS Transformer Prime Tablet.

The lawsuit, entitled, Fraser v. Asus Computer International et al., alleges that the ASUS Prime Tablet is defectively designed because it has a metallic body which effectively disables its WiFi and GPS capablities.

Potentially eligible class members include all US residents who purchased an ASUS Eee Pad TF201 Transformer Prime Tablet but did not receive a full refund for the defective product. A valid claim form must be submitted by May 31, 2013 in order to be eligible to share in the settlement, if approved. A final fairness hearing is set for July 11, 2013.
