Monterey County, CA.

A $11.6 million settlement has been reached and is pending court approval in a class action claiming that the counties' flood-control agencies and the state Department of Transportation were responsible for the widespread Pajaro River flood damage in 1995. The settlement would compensate 223 plaintiffs for damages, leaving about 80 plaintiffs who still have approximately $70 million dollars in claims against the county. (Sep-04-03) [KSBW]
