At least three people have been killed and 10 injured in a school bus accident in Mississippi Tuesday afternoon. The bus, from Choctaw County, was struck by an 18-wheel tractor trailer at the intersection of Highway 8 and Highway 9 in Calhoun County at approximately 2:30 p.m. local time, Jon Kalahar, a spokesman for the Mississippi Department of Public Safety said.

The three dead include the driver of the tractor-trailer and two adult passengers on the school bus. The 10 teenagers with injuries have been taken to hospital, reportedly with non-life-threatening injuries. Reports indicate that there were about 60 people on the school bus at the time of the crash. Among the passengers were senior students from Ackerman High School who were returning from a trip to the University of Mississippi in Oxford, WMC-TV reported.
