Aleve Heart Attack and Stoke

On Dec-20-04 the FDA issued a warning against naproxen (sold as Aleve, Anaprox and Naprosyn) after the National Institute of Health haulted a clinical trial which found that patients taking 2 tablets a day for 3 years developed a 50% higher risk of heart attack and stroke.

Aleve heart attackOf the 2,500 patients in the study, about 70 suffered stroke or heart attack, and 23 died. The trial studied patients in their 70s with no previous history of cardivascular problems. This is the first time such concerns have been raised about naproxen.

The FDA now recommends that Aleve not be taken for more than 10 days. Aleve is an over-the-counter medication, and not a prescription drug. Officials urge users to follow label directions carefully.

Doctors note that these medications were initially conceived for short term pain relief, and were not intended for long-term use with higher doses. The effects of long-term use had not been previously scrutinized. Aleve is manufactured by Bayer.

I was recently hospitalized due to taking the over the counter product Bayer Aleve. The product gave a bleeding stomach ulcer. I went into the hospital on 01/24/2018 and released on 01/28/2018. I had two procedures done a colonoscopy and a endoscopy. I was also given a blood transfusion where I was given 4 pints of blood to replace the blood I lost due to taking the product. I understand on the back of the box it does state it may cause severer stomach bleeding, however it does not say it will give you a bleeding stomach ulcer which I could have died. I like to know if I have a case. thank you.

just had emergency colon surgery after almost bleeding to death, Healthy active 54 year old, suddenly started bleeding diaria went to the ER they are telling me now that taking Aleve for pain may have been the cause, this is the only medication that has been taken, so I believe this is probably what caused the sudden bleeding, Let me know if this qualifies for any of the lawsuits Please

I took aleve for several years for ostioauthritis and now I have stage VI renal disease. My Dr. asked me what I took for pain, I told him aleve. He said NSAIDS work on the kidneys. Do I have an issue to litigate?

For about 18 months I've taken Aleve for spinal nerve pain. I've had 3 back surgeries in the past 15 month. Just before my 3rd I was diagnosed with kidney malfunction. Is anyone aware of litigation against Aleve?

For years my husband took Aleve for any kind of pain. He began suffering from ulcerative colitis. He always took Aleve for pain, because ulcerative colitis is painful! I heard Aleve may not be good on the stomach so I asked him to stop taking it and switch to Ibuprofen. He did. He eventually went into remission. We went on a family vacation, he got a headache and the only pain relief medicine he had in his bag was some Aleve. He took it and within 24 hours he was back on the potty, excrementing horrible blood! This is when we put two and two together and figured this medicine is what is causing his ulcerative colitis! Once again, we threw away the Aleve, he went into remission, and has not had any problems since. For several years he suffered from this terrible "disease." However, we believe Aleve is what was the cause of it all. Seems to me Aleve should be taken off the market and the word should spread, so others won't have to go through this pain and suffering. Thinking we should sue!

I took 1 tablet of Aleve pm 6/8/2016 and about 15 minutes later my heart and breathing stopped. Fortunately my brother was there to call 911 and saved my life. During recovery the doctor said that my heart was negative after an angiogram and an brain MRI showed no problems.

I am 32 years old and I was just diagnosed with ulcerative colitis. The doctor asked me if I was taking any medications. When I told him that I take Aleve for chronic back pain, he told me to immediately discontinue taking it. For the past 11 years, I have worked in a warehouse and have taken Aleve on and off because of chronic back pain. I am convinced that my ulcerative colitis is caused by Aleve. Anyone else?

I took Aleve for several years. I have stage lv renal disease. My kidneys only have 25% function. My kidney doctor asked me what over the counter pain pills I might have taken, saying four different brands one of which was Aleve, which was the one I had taken. He then informed me that Aleve was the cause of my renal disease. Do I have an issue to litigate.

I was taking 1 Aleve a day for 1 year. I had chest pain went to ER ended up at UVA. They found nothing wrong with my heart, no blockage. Now in a study: Why the healthy heart has a heart attack. Dr. will not come right out and say it was Aleve, but it is some thing they think may have caused it.
