Baycol is a drug prescribed to lower cholesterol and triglyceride levels in the blood. The drug was withdrawn from the U.S. market after reports of severe and sometimes fatal adverse muscle reactions.

Although Bayer has acknowledged that over 100 deaths have occurred in people who were using Baycol, Bayer continues to deny that these deaths were related to the use of Baycol.

According to FDA reports, Baycol is associated with more frequent occurrences of fatal muscle reactions, known as rhabdomyolysis, than other similar cholesterol lowering drugs.

Rhabdomyolysis is a condition that results in muscle cell breakdown and release of contents of muscle cells into the bloodstream. Symptoms of rhabdomyolysis include, but are not limited to:
  • Muscle Pain, Weakness, and Cramps
  • Fever
  • Dark Urine
  • Nausea and Vomiting
  • Abdominal Pain
  • Ankle, Feet, or Leg Swelling
  • Chest Pain
  • Skin Rash
  • Kidney Damage

My Bacol lawsuit was tried and heard in the District of Mn court in 2007 after which I never heard from my attorney, (Tyner Law Firm) or your Bayer Asprin Company. Is there any way possible that I can get any information about the outcome of my case. I could get no information from the court clerk because I did not have the document number of the case. I would very much like to know how my case was settled. I believe you are honest peo[ple but I also feel like I have the right to know the decision of my case. please respond. Cheryl Shiner, 504 Minor Pope Way, Jackson, Tn 30301. 731*394-7555.
