Bed Bug Infestations in Correctional and Psychiatric Institutions

Were you looking for Bed Bug Infestation lawsuits?

Nashville, TN: Reports of bed bug infestations in correctional or psychiatric institutions are being made nationwide.

Considered a public health issue, bed bugs are more than a nuisance, as they cause a variety of health issues including skin rashes, psychological effects and allergic symptoms. Bed bug bites may lead to a range of skin manifestations including blisters.

A bed bug infestation can cause needless stress and worry, in addition to health affects, and they are easily transported by humans from one location to another.

Prisons and correctional institutions are common places for bed bug infestations, for a variety of reasons. Recently, inmates at a private prison in Clifton TN, South Central Correctional Center, owned by CoreCivic, alleged they were exposed to bed bugs on an ongoing basis. Their claims were allegedly met with skepticism by the institution operators.

Bed bugs are not difficult to recognize, although they come in different sizes, generally they are the size of an small apple seed. They live on human blood and are notoriously difficult to get rid of. They can live in cracks and crevices in addition to bedding.

I had a bedbug infested mattress in quarantine at W.H.V.C for over 2 weeks on Oct.27th,2009 with nobody answering several kites & complaints to the present Officers, the Warden, our housing Unit arus all for them never to be answered or even returned. Finally after 14 days of complete agany and torment both mentally & physically,my legs were completely bitten to shreds when I realized there were tiny red bugs coming outta the torn hole in my light green mattress after thinking I was losing my mind at lights out every nite there. I Finally asked or pleaded with Officer Nielson to let me exchange with the mattress in an empty cell across from me when she understood and allowed me to switch . It was horrible,I had no razors, lotion or personals and my legs and arms were being mutilated every night in that bed.i was in A 33 at end of A wing on the left side and I feel I shouldn't have had to go through all of that if they done their jobs.
