Restaurants Face Class Action Lawsuits

A Washington State resident has filed a class action lawsuit aimed at Brinker International, owner of several national restaurant chains, including Chili's, Macaroni Grill and On The Border. The complaint, filed in Northern District Court in Texas, alleges the restaurants have been falsely advertising the nutritional information on their so-called low calorie menu selections.

The lawsuit has been filed on behalf of anyone who has ordered any of the low-calorie menu items, and seeks full refunds plus interest. The action was filed on the heels of a Channel 9 television special report, Healthy Living, which tested items from the low-calorie menus at Macaroni Grill, Chili's, Applebee's, Cheesecake Factory, Taco Bell and On The Border. A similar suit has been filed against Applebee's Neighborhood Restaurants, claiming the allegations pertaining to Applebee's Weight Watchers menu items.
