Dried Potatoes Recalled



A recall has been issued to consumers of "Nicer Succade Dried Potatoes" manufactured by Mon Chong Loong Trading Corp.of Maspeth, New York. They were found to contain undeclared sulfites and people with allergic reactions or sensitivities to sulfites may risk serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if this product is consumed.

The company recalled its product after the "Dried Potatoes" were distributed in retail stores throughout the New York metropolitan area. A routine sampling taken by the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets Food Inspectors found sulfites that were not listed on the product label.

10 milligrams of sulfites per serving can cause anaphylactic shock in people with sensitivities or allergies to sulfites. Tests revealed "Dried Potatoes" contained 20.5 milligrams per serving.

Consumers who have purchased "Nicer Succade Dried Potatoes" should return the product to the retail outlet it was purchased for a full refund. The company can be contacted at 718-417-1668. A warning has also been issued by the [FDA]
