Class action status has been granted in a lawsuit filed against J.S. Hovnanian & Sons claiming that the utility rooms in the Holiday Village East development in Burlington County, New Jersey are potentially dangerous due to inadequate ventilation. The suit alleges that the rooms do not have the necessary air flow to support a gas furnace, hot water heater and clothes dryer, and because of this, a potentially lethal buildup of carbon monoxide can occur, which could lead to brain damage or death. The suit refers to Hovnanian homes built on or after Nov. 30, 1992. The suit was filed against J.S. Hovnanian & Sons homes, claiming potentially lethal levels of carbon monoxide due to construction defects.
