Los Angeles Hilton Faces Class Action over Labor Code Violations

- by

A class action lawsuit was filed on Tuesday, December 16, 2008 by workers at the Los Angeles Hilton, alleging a pattern of violations of the California wage and hour laws. The suit alleges the labor infractions have been ongoing since at least 2004.

The lawsuit also alleges that the hotel management denied meals and rest breaks to employees, which they are entitled to under the California state Labor Code. Furthermore, employees had to note their breaks on their time sheets, regardless of whether they took them or not, or face a reprimand.

Of note, the Los Angeles Hilton management was found to have wrongfully suspended 77 workers in a proposed ruling handed down in October, by the National Labor Relations Board administrative law judge.
