A lawsuit filed on behalf of about 1,200 DuPage County families against Lockformer Co. will proceed as a class action. Individual plaintiffs will have to prove they were harmed, and will have to prove the extent of their injuries in order to receive monetary damages.

The suit claims that a storage tank on Lockformer property has leaked trichloroethylene, or TCE, a solvent that has seeped into the soil and groundwater beneath the plaintiffs' homes. Families in several Illinois cities, including Lisle, Woodridge, Downers Grove and unincorporated DuPage, filed the suit in order to have the site cleaned and compensatory and punitive damages paid to those who were harmed.
