Sears and Whirlpool

A class action lawsuit has been filed against Sears and Whirlpool in regards to allegedly defective Calypso Washing Machines on behalf of purchasers of the machines. The suit claims that there are inherent defects in the washers, and that despite many complaints from consumers, Whirlpool and Sears have refused to notify consumers of the defect, repair the defect or recall the Calypsos and they have continued to sell the defective machines nationwide.

My husband has spent days on end trying to figure out what is wrong with this machine. He has pulled bra wires out, a penny, 2 bouncy balls, a dime, all kinds of lint and dirt. Sears wants no part in helping - only to send a tech sometime in March to check the machine out. I need my washer! I have 5 people that I wash clothes for. I was never sent any kind of notice nor was I told there was anything wrong with this machine when I bought it June of 2004 or 2005. I'm pretty sure it was 04. The pump motor works. We watched it. So I don't need it replaced. I just need to find out how to make my washer wash again without stopping and getting the LD code - over and over and over again. Needless to say I am done buying anything from Whirlpool or Sears!!!

This machine has caused great stress. There have been several breakdowns which required someone coming out. We are working people who had to rearrange schedules to accomodate workers who unsuccessfully got it to work correctly. The problems always reoccured. When they opened it last time all parts are rusted out. Currently it is making the worst noise you could imagine like nails on a chalkboard. It is crazy and this washer which we were told was top of the line, is nothing but a big fat headache and lemon. My husband is so upset because of the money we have thrown away trying to fix it and he wants me to fix the problem!
