Westlake Chemical Corp. and Indiana & Ohio Railroad

After a styrene gas leak near Lunken Airport, the city of Cincinnati filed a class action lawsuit against the rail line owner and the shipping company that sent the chemical. On August 28, 2005 a parked railroad tanker car leaked styrene into the air; more than 800 people in Cincinnati's East End had to be evacuated for over two days. The lawsuit is seeking reimbursement for city police, fire fighters, and other services needed to help contain the hazardous chemical vapor leak.
