A lawsuit was filed and is seeking class action status against the Roman Catholic church and headquarters for allegedly covering up a priest abuse scandal in the United States. The lawsuit was filed in the US District Court for the Western District of Kentucky against the Vatican and claims victims were sexually abused by priests in the Louisville, KY area between the 1920s and 1970s. The lawsuit seeks class action status on behalf of all those abused by priests in the United States, claiming that Catholic bishops engaged in a systematic cover up of abuse under explicit, secret orders from the Vatican.
