Wooden Toy Phones pose choking hazard recalled



Approximately 6,000 cordless push button toy telephones made by Marvel Education Co have been recalled.

According to the [The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission], the wooden phones pose a safety risk: wooden push buttons on the phone can detach and cause a young child to choke.

The recalled toy phone is made of wood with black numbers painted on wood push buttons and it has a black rubber antenna. The phone comes with a wooden caddy marked "TELEPHONE".

The phones were sold to major school supply distributors, such as Kaplan and Ajax School Office Source, for about $20 each, from January 2004 through February 2006.

If you have this product, you are advised to stop using it immediately and contact Marvel Education Co. The company will give you a free replacement toy phone with red push button numbers and red graphics printed on it.
