Yahoo!

Class action status is being sought in a lawsuit filed against Yahoo! on behalf of internet users who were allegedly abused on the company's message boards in the past four years and who were allegedly denied help from the company. The suit claims that the company is protecting message board users who anonymously post abusive and defamatory remarks about others. Although the company asks its customers to refrain from posting messages that are "unlawful, harmful, threatening, abusive, harassing, tortious, defamatory, vulgar, obscene, libellous, invasive of another's privacy, hateful, or racially, ethnically or otherwise objectionable," the suit claims that there are regularly postings that break this rule, and Yahoo! provides no remedy for the targets of such abuse.
