In March 2004, Skillsoft paid shareholders a $30.5 million class action settlement to clear allegations of securities fraud related to the restatement of SmartForce PLC's financial statements. AIG was Skillsoft's lead director and officer insurance carrier, and Skillsoft had expected that its insurers would contribute a portion of the settlement amount.
