Burberry Reaches $2.5M Unpaid Overtime Class Action Settlement

This is a settlement for the Employment lawsuit.

Santa Clara, CA: A $2.54 million settlement has been reached in an unpaid overtime class action lawsuit pending against Burberry Limited. The lawsuit was filed by workers who alleged the high end clothing retailer violated the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and New York labor law.

The complaint was filed by a group of New York sales associates in 2015. The settlement, however, addresses claims made not only by the sales associates but also by Burberry shippers and receivers employed at certain New York stores who made similar allegations after the proposed action was filed.

Under the terms of the proposed settlement, no class member would receive less than $150. Further, the proposed deals seeks service awards for the 19 named plaintiffs and opt-in plaintiffs for a total of $62,500.

The proposed deal requires court approval. The case is Payano et al. v. Burberry Limited, case number 1:15-cv-10178, in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York.
