A $1.5 million settlement has been reached in the lawsuit filed against Colorado Central Station Casino in Black Hawk on behalf of thirty-six casino workers who challenged the casino's English-only policy. The policy was implemented five years ago despite the fact that casino managers were aware that many applicants spoke only Spanish when they were hired. Twenty-five of the plaintiffs will split $315,000 as settlement of a class action suit, and a further eleven workers who filed individual suits will split $1.21 million. (Jul-20-03)
