Union Pacific Railroad

Several women filed a class action lawsuit against their employer alleging discrimination by not covering contraceptives in its health care plan. The lawsuit claimed the railroad's actions violated the federal Civil Rights Act, which prohibits employers with 15 or more workers from making decisions based on gender or pregnancy. Omaha based Union Pacific Corp. operates Union Pacific Railroad and agreed to reimburse employees who paid for their own contraceptives and will pay for it from now on. (Jul-25-05) [CENTRE DAILY]
