Ford Defective Diesel Engine Class Action Lawsuit Settlement

This is a settlement for the Ford Motor Co. and Magna International lawsuit.

- by

Detroit, MI: A proposed settlement has been reached in a Ford defective engine class action lawsuit pending against Ford Motor Company.

You may be a member of a proposed Settlement Class and entitled to reimbursement for certain engine-related repair costs and deductibles if you:

1. purchased or leased a model year 2003_2007 non-ambulance Ford vehicle in the United States equipped with a 6.0-liter PowerStroke diesel engine; and
2. the vehicle received one or more repairs covered by Ford_s New Vehicle Limited Warranty during its first five years in service or 100,000 miles, whichever came first, to a fuel injector; the EGR valve; the EGR cooler; the oil cooler; or the turbocharger; and
3. you had not, as of November 1, 2012, filed (and not voluntarily dismissed without prejudice) an individual lawsuit based on that engine;

If the Court approves the proposed Settlement, Ford will provide Class Members a means of obtaining reimbursement for certain engine-related repair costs and deductibles. All persons (or entities) who agree to accept these benefits will be barred from pursuing individual lawsuits against Ford and others based on the 6.0-liter engines in these vehicles.

Background: On April 13, 2011, the Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation created MDL No. 2223, In re: Navistar 6.0L Diesel Engine Products Liability Litigation, and transferred seven lawsuits involving similar claims to the Court for pretrial proceedings. Thirty-two additional lawsuits have since been transferred to the Court. The plaintiffs contend that the 6.0-liter diesel engine installed primarily in 2003 - 2007 heavy-duty Ford trucks and vans contains defects that result in poor performance and expensive repair bills. Plaintiffs assert a variety of legal claims against Ford based on the engine' design, the marketing of the vehicles, and Ford' repair practices. Plaintiffs seek to pursue their lawsuits (the "Litigation") as a class action on behalf of other owners and lessees of model year 2003_2007 non-ambulance Ford vehicles equipped with a 6.0 liter diesel engine (the "Class").

My husband and I have Ford F250 Lariat 2004 with 6.0 litre engine. We purchased it with 101810 miles everything has been replaced except the wiring harness. $6000 then another $6563 even all new injectors alternator twice and one of those are bad and caused the Cam sensor to blow. WE have it in the shop now and have no idea how much it will cost to get out. Did mention its been in the shop a MONTH on Wed Aug 21 2019. How do they get away with this. if anyone finds out a way to recoup any money please share. This is crazy.

I summited a claim and never beard back I had a 2004 Ford F-350 I had to have the engine replace at thirty thousand miles and took out extended warranty and the engine blew again at 68,000 thousand miles ford refunded my 2700 for warranty and said they were not fixing the truck

I purchased a 2004 F250 6.0 brand new for $39,000. At 160,000 miles, I had the EGR delete, head gaskets, studded the heads, new turbo and new injectors all performed by my local Ford dealer. Now at 227,000 miles, the truck is using coolant and the dealer said it is the head gaskets again. I added up the receipts just for mechanical fixes since day 1 of ownership. The total came up to $29500. I was in the mileage group where I could not be a part of the class action lawsuit. I told my local dealer I was going to take this truck to Detroit and park it in the Ford Headquarters parking lot and walk away. Wouldn't that be a great TV news story to see all of the trucks referenced in this forum delivered back to Ford and let them deal with the the clutter they created!

I am the original owner of a 2004 F350 with the 6.0 Diesel with just under 100,000 miles on it. I've had the EGR and Oil cooler replace already, have been told the HG may be going and now it is just blowing cold air out of the heater. I have already replaced the EGR valve and thermostat twice. With over $8000.00 invested in this truck with no upgrades, it's time to get a GM. I just wish there was some way to get Ford to pay for this poor design of an engine.

my name is Tyler Clinton I have a f350 2003 power stroke stuck on my front lawn due to the fact that it has practically bankrupted me. I purchased it from a local dealer here in Roswell NM I paid $10,000 at 180,000 miles I thought It was going to be a great deal but turns out that it causes more trouble then she's worth... I didn't even know about the issues they had nor their reputation as well as the fact that I was sold a lemon I literally didn't even know what that term meant when I first heard it. after my purchase I decided to go visit my mother 400 miles away in fort worth Texas with no problems. a few weeks later I took another trip to Arizona and ended up stranded outside of Wilcox where I had to be towed to Tucson to the nearest ford dealership.... which costed 300 I then was told my engine was going to need replacing I pretty much laughed at the guy when he told me 16 grand for a used engine....I had my grandfathers brother come pick me up and take me and the old girl home. I then brought her to revelation towing here in Roswell and got charged for a compression test as well as all injectors swapped the truck was up and running again the issue was that one of the pistons had filled completely up with fuel once I had her back she ran for about several months but left me stranded again on my first date with my wife (before our marriage of course) I had then brought it to hawks services in Roswell and I had to have injectors replaced as well as a hpop which ran me 1300… once it was done I then drove it off the guys lot and the hpop breaks down again 2 blocks away so I have him haul me back and I order a egr delete kit while I was at it cause I did some research and heard the bad things about the egr so I decided it would be best to delete it sooner then later... that costed another 1200 btw... everything was fine up until recently where it broke down on me and wouldn't start anymore so I took it to the last shop that would take it in Roswell hoping this guy could find the problem... he scanned it for codes and everything pointed to low to no fuel pressure so he puts in a new fuel pump and gets it running for a minute but it went out again for the final time... now we are broke without a working vehicle and I have no idea what to do next... I can take the engine apart myself so im not worried about labor but I need some advice or even a demonstration of my problem and the solution someone please reach out to me on Facebook or other social sites ill post them now please and thank you for reading this and expressing any concerns

I have a 2005 F 350 Diesel and had to do my injectors twice, EGR cooler, Fuel Injection Control Module, Transmission and a slew of other things. I currently spend about $5,000.00 a year to keep it running. Now it's in the shop as we speak for Power Steering Pump, Locked Caliper, Leaking Transmission Pan, Oil Change and a few Hoses at there tune of $1800.00
Sorry Ford but my next truck will not be a FORD !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The day I took delivery of my new Ford F250 diesel truck was a proud day for me and I felt like the king of the road. I babied my new Ford thinking it would last me for the rest of my driving career.
I did all of the required maintains on or before the scheduled intervals. I drove the truck at least once a week for the past thirteen years and the truck now has 51,827 miles on it. At about 42,000 miles last year the truck stranded me and I had to have it towed to the dealership (Youngblood Motors in Madison, GA.) I picked up the truck the next day, paid the repair bill of about $300.00 dollars and drove home. The next day the truck did not start and I had it towed back to the dealership. This time they replaced a sensor. I paid the repair bill of about $200.00 dollars and drove home.
At about 47,000 miles the 4w drive stopped working and the outside temperature gauge was reading -37 degrees. Back to the dealership and this time replaced the vacuum system and the air conditioner compressor and fixed the outside temperature sensor for a cost of about $2600.00 dollars.
At a little over 50,000 miles on my way home I looked out my rear view mirror and it looked like I was spraying for mosquitos. I was told by the dealership they were aware of this problem and I needed to have the EGR system replaced. The estimate was $6,440.76 if everything else was ok and they did not have to replace the heads.
I currently have the truck at a private garage and have been given an estimate of from $7,000.00 to $8,000.00 dollars and the heads will have to be replaced.

I have a 2003 F350 6.0. Yes, this was a dream truck for me.Paid for with hard earned money saved. Have had numerous check engine lights and trips to the dealer. 5 years ago replaced injectors and turbo. Dealer stated this is a new and improved turbo and you won't have any problems. Last year, had problems with turbo, dealer stated it had to be re-learned $. Ten months later, losing power. Dealer states I need a new turbo!! My truck has 118,000 miles and well maintained. Probably only 25,000 on the newer turbo. I can only pray that someone (Attorney) throws us a rope and helps all of us by holding Ford accountable!!

I have a 2018 F350 6.4 Diesel with barely 200,000 gentle km on it. It is now in the shop for a repair of the Head Gasquet failure. The bill for repair is estimate around $12,000.00. This is absolutely ridiculous to have to repair a diesel with this low Kim’s. Ford product is a piece of trash as far as I am concern. It should have at least a 500,000 Km warranty on it for the price they charge for a piece of Junck

We have 2008 f450. 6.4 diesel. Total engine replacement at 100700 miles. 16000 dollars plus 5000 to get it back home and towing. Common problem with engine. Replacement engine head failure at 23000 miles. Now fighting to get that taken care of under the warranty without it costing us. Would be interested in getting some money back. This truck has been maintained

I have a 2013 Ford Taurus SHO and have experienced similar issues to those described in the case above. From the very beginning, my car would stop while I was driving (sometimes at 90 mph). The car would accelerate on its own, die and not start at all (having to be towed) and it's had several recalls. Now in it's 4th year, we're being told that the car is experiencing low engine problems and needs to be replaced (a whopping $9K.). We've already paid out thousands to repair our vehicle and feel that we've been duped by Ford. I'd love to find out what my options are in getting my money back from Ford Motor Company in a product liability suit or something similar.

Would love to know if there is a class action lawsuit regarding the 6.0 diesel engine. My 2004 F250 had 143,348 and I had to replace the motor ($12,893.16) have had several more repairs done to it for a total of $18,032.55. That is just from 2015-2017. Ford knew there were problems, they should have recalled every vehicle and replaced all motors. If there has been a class action lawsuit filed, I have never been notified and my mailing address hasn't changed.

We purchased a 2006 F350 along with an expensive extended warranty which expired at 60,000 miles. The engine totally blew at 61,800 miles. Unrepairable damage. Having a new engine put in at a cost of over $10,000. What kind of a diesel engine only gets 61,800 miles on it; especially one that has it's oil changed and serviced along with a new fuel filter replaced every 5000 miles? Oil changes cost $400. When we pressured the dealer, they just threw their hands up and said "too bad". Ford and Navistar knew that they had a problem and continued to put this engine in these trucks. This is criminal behavior! It looks like the payout on this class action suit is around $800 per owner......big deal, when a new engine is costing us over $10,000! Now we own two Ford trucks and just waiting for the next one to blow. Ford should make this right with their customers!

I purchased this 2005 F250 18,months ago with 40k on it.In July of 2017 with 70K the high pressure oil pump went out and i was out $4000.00 to have it repaired. four weeks later the thing started idling rough and blowing black smoke. had it towed into a shop and they tell me the engine is blown and it will cost me $16,000 to replace it plus a $2700.00 for there service plus towing.
Now I don't know what to do with it .
. What a load of crap .I had just paid this thing off and was planning to pull my boat to Montana for a fishing trip.
From what I have read Ford knew that this motor was SHIT and continued to sell it. to non informed consumers.
I pray that all of who have suffered financially and emotionally are well compensated.

I bought a 2007 limo bus in 2008 which was brand new. The bus has a 6.0 liter power stroke diesel motor. I have had all kinds of problems. Bus breaking down several times. Right now the bus has 40,065
miles on it. I have a limo service and I had to take it out of service in December 2016. I can't even sell it, because everyone knows about the motor. The bus smokes real bad. I had it repaired last year in the fall
2016 and spent over $800.00 on the repair, but it still did not last long. The bus only did a very few trips, then it started smoking again and broke down in December. I have been in the limousine business for 30 years and I have always bought Fords and Lincolns, hundreds of them. in the past 30 years.
I just found out about the bad motor about 7 months ago. None of the Ford dealers would tells us anything. I just can't believe Ford would do this to their long time customers. I even had a $500,000 Ford credit set up by Ford at one time. I will never buy a Ford product again.

I own a f 450 2008, ford has surely let a lot of people down ,my truck has 68000 miles and dealer maintained, complete motor failure at this mileage and ford will do nothing. this is a night mare truck provided by a non responsible company, ford is well aware of the problems but still will not take responsibility , I was told by a rep. that not using this truck all the time may cause failure in the motor, what a joke, must be fords bull crap form for their employees to recite. unlike vw who have gone far and wide to keep their customers happy, Ford should study vw and at least learn how to be descent to people. beware Ford motor company

I bought a 2008 F350 with 6.4 diesel. Regular maintenance. All recalls performed. Not abused or modified. At most stress, pulled a 3 horse aluminum trailer. At 90,000 bearing has spun with no prior warning, no cross fluid contamination and oil healthy, requiring motor replacement. Now I see this is a common problem, even admitted by the service department in 3 dealerships. I would like to be included if there is any recourse. This is ridiculous that a motor cannot last 100,000 miles with required maintenance. AND that I am out $10,000 of value for buying their junk.

We purchased our Ford 2004 F-250 in 2009. It was in beautiful condition and our dream truck for our 5th wheel and retirement. So far we had to have engine work because a bolt fell out of the engine ($2,000+); the engine caught fire and had to be replaced ($12,200); it blew the high pressure oil pump ($2,200+); then over heated and had to have parts replaced ($980); then failed because of the over-heating and now needs another new engine. We have spent all of our retirement funds on this truck with nothing to show for it.

I bought my 2005 F-250 Lariat in May of 2008. It had approximately 65,000 kilometres on it .At 88,000 the EGR cooler went and I had it replaced under warranty . No problem. Then at 124,000km the EGR cooler went again causing a hydraulic lock in the engine and I had to replace the engine. The bill for that was in excess of $14,000.00. Ford would have no part of compensating for even part of the cost. After months of trying to get some sort of good will from Ford I had to bight the bullet. What a shame to have to go through an ordeal like this after almost a year of having the truck of my dreams in the shop.I also had an extended warranty which would have no part of it either because EGR is considered part of the emission system. Very disappointed

My 2011 Ford F250 power stroke engine went out Sunday September 18th, 2016 t has 1000000 miles. We were told there was a cylinder misfire, damaged glow plug circuit. The cost of the repair is $11300.00 our extended warranty ran out the 10th of August 2016. This seems to be a common problem with this model. If this was a known problem then the truck should have been recalled.

We have a 2003 F250 which received all service at the Ford dealer. No one ever informed us of the defective engine. We are liw mileage users but at 100,000 miles this year, engine has failed with thousands wanted for repairs. Correspondence with Ford provided no assistance due to out of warranty. Very concerning that they received compensation for defective engine but consumers are left paying for repairs themselves. Have owned Fords for years but ni more. Paid over $40,000 for this truck in 2003. Never another Ford. It is in excellent shape bidy wise but having to trade it in on a new vehicle. Ford should have repaired or replaced the vehicle with a prorated cost for new non-defective model. Very bad business model for consumer!
