Santa Clara, CA: A settlement has been reached between the Body Shop owner and operator, Buth-Na-Bodhaige Inc., and plaintiffs who allege the retail chain produces credit and debit card receipts that display more than the last five digits of customers' card numbers on them, in violation of the federal Fair Credit Reporting Act (FACTA).
Under the terms of the settlement, eligible class members are consumers who made a purchase at The Body Shop at a retail location in the US, and who paid for those purchases using their debit or credit cards, between February 12 2011 and March 21 2017, and who received printed receipts that showed more than the last five digits of their card number.
Eligible class members could receive a $12 gift card.
A final settlement hearing is scheduled for August 2017.
The case is Henry Lee v. Buth-Na-Bodhaige Inc. d/b/a The Body Shop, Case No. 1:16-cv-01104-LTS, in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York.
