Shareholders filed a class action lawsuit against the company that alleged violations of the securities laws governing the manner in which certain trading activities of the company were accounted for from 1999 to 2001. Those who purchased common stock between April 30, 2001 and May 14, 2002 filed the suit in the U.S. District Court in Houston. Reliant Energy has agreed to a $75 million securities fraud settlement.
