Safety Clothing

St. Paul, MN: (Feb-16-08) A class action lawsuit was brought against Gold'n Plump Poultry Inc., by processing and cleaning crews, alleging that they were not paid for time spent putting on and taking off special safety clothing. Sources close to the case stated that the company has agreed to enter into a settlement agreement to resolve litigation.

Under the terms of the deal, Gold'n Plump Poultry will pay $1.2 million to workers who argued they should be paid for time spent putting on and taking off safety clothing. Further, the agreement allows workers to be on the clock while dressing and undressing, but Gold'n Plump gets to set time limits. Sources said that the monetary payout will be divided among as many as 3,000 workers at Luverne and Cold Spring, Minnesota, and Arcadia, Wisconsin. Eligible workers get 55 minutes of pay for every eligible week they worked between February 2001 and December 2007. [WBAY NEWS: DONNING AND DOFFING]
