An $850,000 settlement has been reached in the class action lawsuit filed on behalf of 131 female inmates of the county jail who were subjected to a hostile environment and not given equal access to work-release programs. The suit further claimed that the guards would routinely strip search the female inmates in circumstances where the male inmates would not be searched. (Feb-11-04) [DETROIT NEWS]
