University of Washington Medical Center

A class action lawsuit was filed against the medical center for allegedly adding charges to bills without patients knowing. Under terms of the settlement, the university has agreed to reduce 25% of the cost of minor surgical procedures. This change will affect 20,000 patients who undergo procedures at its 42 hospital based clinics each year.
