Class action status is being sought for a lawsuit filed against The East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office and Sheriff Elmer Litchfield. The suit was filed by men who were told by detectives that they had no right to refuse a DNA sample, and were submitted to cheek swabs. According to the suit, the DNA samples were put into a statewide database without permission, which violates the Constitution's prohibition against unlawful searches and seizures.
