Best Buy Geek Squad

Attorneys are investigating claims that the Geek Squad at Best Buy violates the privacy of customers having their personal computers and laptops serviced. Allegations include unauthorized viewing of personal files, information and pictures while the computers are left with the Geek Squad resulting in embarrassment, breach of confidentiality, and fear of dissemination of personal information.

Best Buy introduced the Geek Squad to their services in October 2002. The Geek Squad is a 24-hour technical support service which provides in-store, on-site, or telephone support to resolve operating system problems, networking set-up, software installations, data transfers, and more. Best Buy is currently the leading electronics retailer with 750 stores nationwide and over $5 billion in annual sales.

My husband got Verizon Wireless service thru Best Buy like a couple years back when the iPhone 4 came out and a yr later the speaker was not working so he took it to see if he can get it fixed so they did fix it and after his contract was “over” he wanted to cancel and when he called customer service they told him that if he wanted to cancel he would have to pay the cancellation fee because supposedly he got a new “phone” which he never got because his phone had a scratch somewhere in the corner of the phone so we were pretty sure it was not a new phone they gave back we didn’t get no new box or anything and they didn’t tell him so we went to the store and they told us that they didn’t have any info and we talked to the manager and all we got was we will give you a call back and nothing until we went to the store again and manager said there’s nothing on file so let’s say somebody got a free phone over at the geek squad so BECAREFUL WHEN DROPPING OFF THINGS TO GET FIXED

All system purchased at Best Buy and serviced by Geek Squad are dummy systems with never delete settings found in the registry of the system. Geek Squad are bot herders using targeted systems for cybercriminal activity. All systems have unauthorized back door access, Trojan horses, worms, virus's, malware, breached firewall, remote access, trojanized services, and spy. Do not get services or purchase software, firewalls or anything else from best buy that is serviced or designed by GEEK SQUAD.

i bought a new HP Desktop in 2013 and had problems ever since i bought it from best buy. i was charged 106.00 every year for their service and i called them probably 50 times in that period. in 2016 they told me to take it to the store to get fixed and i did. they updated to windows 10 and then it was worse, i then took it back and they put it at windows 8.1 and said it was fixed and it wasnt. i continued to complain and they promised me satisfaction and i got nothing.last week my geek squad subscription expired and they told me to go to hell, they charged me 106.00 again and i told to stick and i want my money back. i telling everyone know dont get sucked in like me, u will regret it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. 1000.00 down the drain. thanks geek jerks.

Purchased LG Washer extended washer. Was informed after 4th call that the warranty company would not unstack my washer despite telling me they would earlier in the week. I have to call someone else to service the washer and pay myself. This is after 4 calls over 2 weeks.

I dropped off my computer at Best Buy in Santa Fe, NM. I was told I didn't have an appointment but since there was no others waiting I was able to drop it off. About five days later I received a "robo-call" that My computer was ready. When I went to merely pick it up I was told I needed an appointment to pick up my computer. I was appalled. I was standing at the desk with no others waiting and was being told I could not take it without an appointment. I then called the complaint line and Ryan who took my call advised he had never heard of needing an appointment to pick up an item. Following this ridiculous line of action a customer would need to make an appointment to buy a product from Best Buy. When I called the store again at 7:12 PM, 1/12/2016 I spoke to "Scott" who stated he was the manager. I had never seen "Scott" before and he accused me of being "DRUNK.". He made this statement without ever having met me and also stated "I know you called our corporate office." As a Type II diabetic I seriously doubt I would have consumed any alcohol. Being 70 years of age Best Buy was taking advantage of a senior citizen. The company should be called "WORST BUY" rather than Best Buy. I am now going to file a complaint with New Mexico Consumer Affairs.

Not sure where my old hard drive is and I refuse to sign the work order form to pick up my laptop because they can't show me it's fixed nor does it mention anything regarding my wireless card. Best Buy refers to #10 of the service agreement that I waived my rights to lost data. Told them it doesn't mention programs or operating system and I didn't loose my data it was stolen by them. Also, #1 of the agreement states only perform services REQUESTED. Resolution offered: they give me a new computer of my choice and install the programs at no additional cost.

Corporate office stated that if it is under warranty they can do whatever they want without the customers approval.
