A certified class action lawsuit has been filed alleging the health care provider overcharged thousands of uninsured patients since 1999. The lawsuit was filed in St. Louis Circuit Court on behalf of behalf of patients without insurance who allegedly were charged two to three times as much for treatment compared to patients with insurance. Many hospitals involved in the case are nonprofit entities that receive tax breaks in exchange for providing services to the community.
