Royal Caribbean Cruises and Celebrity Cruise Lines

Class action status is being sought in a lawsuit filed against Royal Caribbean & Celebrity Cruise Lines on behalf of approximately 5.7 million customers. The suit claims that the cruise lines overcharged the passengers by an estimated $150 million dollars in fraudulent tax charges. The suit further alleges that the companies have been hiding the phony tax charges from their customers since the spring of 2001. The suit is seeking to reimburse the customers for the $15-$20 charge, as well as to ban the companies from continuing to charge for the phony tax.
