Colorado Department of Revenue and the Division of Motor Vehicles

A class action lawsuit has been filed against the Colorado Department of Revenue and Division of Motor Vehicles over a recent instatement of a two-document identification requirement for getting a driver's license in the state of Colorado. The lawsuit claims the two-document rule is illegal and unconstitutional because of the closed-door procedure by which it was adopted and the arbitrary manner in which it has been applied to deny ID cards and driver's licenses to qualified Colorado residents. The lawsuit was filed in Denver District Court on behalf of all people who can prove their identity under state law but cannot under the more restrictive rules.
