Canadian Pacific Railway Class Action Dismissed

On January 18, 2002 a CP Rail train derailed; anhydrous ammonia spilled onto the land and thousands of people were injured by the accident. A class action lawsuit was filed involving nearly 1,000 people. A U.S. District Judge has dismissed the class based on the Federal Railroad Safety Act of 1970 that makes the railroad immune from such legal action. (Mar-07-06) [MINOT DAILY NEWS]
