Decatur Hotels

More than 80 workers from Peru, Bolivia and the Dominican Republic have joined a lawsuit seeking class action status filed in U.S. District Court against the hotel and its president and chief executive. The immigrant workers were recruited and employed in housekeeping, maintenance and other hotel support jobs; they claim they are being exploited even though they came to the United States under a legitimate guest worker program. The lawsuit also claims the company abused a visa program for unskilled non-agricultural workers to get immigrant laborers after Hurricane Katrina.
