Class action status is being sought for a lawsuit filed against Dow Chemical Co. on behalf of residents along the Tittabawassee River. The suit alleges that the company polluted plaintiff's properties downstream of its Midland plant with dioxin, a toxic byproduct of chemical manufacturing. The suit claims that the residents have faced adverse health effects due to their exposure to the toxins, and that their properties have dropped substantially in value. 173 residents are currently involved in the case, but if granted class status, 2,000 residents could potentially join the suit.
