Drug Induced Labor

Scientists from the Institute of Human Development and Child and Youth Health at the Canadian Institutes of Health in Ottawa, Ontario discovered drug induced labor nearly doubles the risk for a serious delivery complication that can cost the mother her life. Amniotic fluid embolism is a serious but rare complication of pregnancy and although the absolute excess risk is low, women and physicians should be aware of this risk when making decisions about elective labor induction.
