Oceana Naval Air Station and Fentress Naval Auxiliary Landing Field

A class action lawsuit has been filed against the two property owners alleging jet noise has encroached on residents' and lowered property value. The complaint was filed with the US Court of Federal Claims in Washington on behalf of Virginia Beach and Chesapeake residents who claim to be affected by loud F/A-18 Navy Hornet jet noise.

The class action lawsuit alleges that the relocation of the Hornets was the federal government's taking of their property without just compensation, a violation of the Fifth Amendment. Virginia Beach property tax assessment records show that homes around Oceana have continued to increase in value, but plaintiffs assert that their properties would be valued even more without the jet noise.

Intolerable jet noise has affected me in my house and tenants in my three rental properties (four houses in same area)
by making it impossible to be outside, send our pets outside, have get togethers where we are not screaming over the noise, keep windows open, hear the television, and by all around decreasing our serenity.
