Juvenile Smokers Insurance

Lawyers are investigating an action against life insurance companies for charging juveniles smoker rates in life insurance policies. As you can imagine, very few people under 18 are smokers yet a number of life insurance companies charge the higher smoker rates to children. They then force the juveniles to prove they are a non-smoker once they become adults. If they are able to do so, they may be entitled to a more favorable rate. Until then, the juveniles are charged a very high premium. These situations are in life insurance policies which directly insure the life of the child but the adult would own the policy. It may also exist in a child rider coverage where an adult has insured a child as part of their own life insurance policy.
