Class action status is being sought for a lawsuit against Lomex Inc. and majority shareholder Sanimal Inc. on behalf of the residents of Riviere des Prairies, Quebec. The suit alleges that since June 2001, the smell and noise from the company's rendering plant on 6th St. has been unbearable. The suit alleges that the situation has caused the residents to suffer from high levels of stress and discomfort, sleeping difficulties, embarrassment and shame. The suit seeks to have the company shut down the plant until the problems are resolved.
