Class action status is being sought in lawsuits filed against the three south Louisiana school systems of East Baton Rouge, St. Helena and Iberville. The suits were filed on behalf of hundreds of school employees including teacher's aides, custodians, secretaries, assistant coaches, bus drivers, and cafeteria and maintenance workers, and allege overtime wage violations. The suits claim that the school boards have been improperly paying hourly wage employees under the federal Fair Labor Standards Act.
