Gold Jewelry, Mattresses Discount Price Lawsuit

Department stores throughout the country frequently advertise GOLD JEWELRY, MATTRESSES AND OTHER PRODUCTS AS BEING on sale, frequently at prices that are supposedly 40-50% "off" the supposedly "regular prices" for which these products sell.

These "SALES" are run continuously and there are few actual sales made at the "regular prices." in fact, the supposed "sale" prices are the "regular prices" and the purchasers are rarely saving anything.

There is presently pending in Florida state court a class action against the company that operates many of the jewelry departments at department stores throughout the country. A federal court in Illinois has already found this company's false advertising of sales of gold jewelry to be a consumer fraud.

If you have purchased gold jewelry , mattresses or other bedding products "on sale" from a retail store, you may have valuable information that can be useful to us and our clients. You may also be eligible to bring your own class action against the retailers or others who participate in these false advertising schemes.

In connection with bedding sets, retailers work with the leading manufacturers of bedding products (such as Sealy, Simmons, etc.) to create model names for individual stores and chains which frustrate the ability of consumers to do comparison shopping. This means that one store will sell a Sealy bedding set with a specified model name. Sealy will sell the virtually identical set through a "competing" retailer with a different model name. In this way, there is no practical way for a consumer to compare one store's price with that of another unless the consumer is informed of all the physical characteristics of each bedding set (e.g. Number of coils, gauge of steel, etc.).

If you purchased gold jewelry or bedding products under the circumstances described above, please fill in the form at right.
