A class action lawsuit has been filed against Menorah Gardens and Funeral Chapels and its parent corporation, Service Corporation International, alleging that many cemetery plots at Menorah Gardens have been used for the wrong person, and that persons have been buried in the wrong plots, making plots unavailable to the person who actually purchased them.

Among the allegations in the class action are that Menorah Gardens and SCI secretly broke open burial vaults and dumped human remains in a wooded area surrounding the cemeteries; that deceased persons were buried in locations other than the locations they had purchased; that burial vaults and coffins containing human remains were secretly crushed down in order to make room for new burials; and that human remains were dug up and moved to other locations in the cemetery after being originally placed in incorrect plots.

The cemeteries that are affected are the Menorah Gardens & Funeral Chapels' cemeteries in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, located at 21100 West Griffin Road, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33322, and in West Palm Beach, Florida, located at 9321 Memorial Park Road, West Palm Beach, FL 33412.
