A federal class action lawsuit has been filed against the department alleging employee racial discrimination. Several African American and Hispanic Parks Department employees are claiming that for the past 10 years, they have routinely been discriminated against in hiring, promotions, and pay increases. The class action claims African Americans and Hispanics have been denied promotions and equal pay and when they complain they are retaliated against.
